Handwoven Linen and Silk Table Mat in M's and O's

$85.00

This table mat was woven by me on a nineteenth century barn loom. I measured the warp on a warping board, beamed the threads onto the loom, threaded the heddles, sleyed the reed, and finally wove the cloth. I stitched the hems by hand.

From start to finish, I make my cloth by hand.

The pattern of this mat is m’s and o’s, a texture common in the nineteenth century for linen towels. The warp is undyed linen and the weft is silk. The floats of the weft show the sheen of the silk. It measures 9 1/2" by 21 1/4".

This placemat is small and elegant. It is perfect to be used as a mat when having tea, as a small table runner, or as a resting spot for precious objects. I like to keep one on the dining table.
