The care of handwoven textiles depends on the fiber they are made of.
Please reach out if you have any questions about textile care, I am happy to help.
Linen and hemp:
Wash by hand or on the delicate cycle of a washing machine with lukewarm water and gentle detergent.
For a wrinkled and textured feel, allow to line dry.
For a smooth sheen, allow the cloth to dry until damp, then iron on high.
Cotton:
Wash by hand or on the delicate cycle of a washing machine with gentle detergent.
Line dry or dry by machine with low heat.
While line drying best preserves the cloth over time, cotton can withstand machine drying. In general, I machine dry my cotton towels.
Wool:
Wash by hand or on the gentle cycle of a washing machine with gentle detergent (ideally a detergent that contains lanolin, like Eucalan).
Gently squeeze water from the cloth after washing. Lay textile on a towel, and roll it up. Gently press the rolled up towel to absorb the remaining water. Unroll the cloth and line dry.
