Overshot Baby Blanket in Blue Cotton

$245.00

An heirloom baby blanket.

This blanket is handwoven by me on a nineteenth century barn loom from dyed and natural cotton. I measure the warp, warp the loom, thread the heddles, sley the reed, tie on the warp, and in the end weave the cloth. The hem is hand pressed and stitched with the "invisible stitch." The natural cotton threads form the tabby background and the blue threads form the pattern.

Traditionally used as a pattern for wool top blankets, overshot is used here in cotton for a softer and more practical blanket for parents and their young ones.

This blanket is sized for swaddling, and makes for a lovely play mat later on.
