Handwoven Linen Wool and Ramie Table Mat in M's and O's

This table mat was woven by me on a nineteenth century barn loom. I measured the warp on a warping board, beamed the threads onto the loom, threaded the heddles, sleyed the reed, and finally wove the cloth. I stitched the hems by hand.
From start to finish, I make my cloth by hand.
The pattern of this mat is m’s and o’s, a texture common in the nineteenth century for linen towels. The warp is undyed linen and the weft is a blend of wool and ramie. It measures 8 1/2" by 22".
This placemat is small and elegant. It is perfect to be used as a mat when having tea, as a small table runner, or as a resting spot for precious objects. I like to keep one on the dining table.
